A queer- and dance-centered club space that celebrates esteemed and emerging underground artists from the Queer, Trans and BIPOC spectrum around the globe.

Expect a wide spectrum of visionary dance and club music while honoring its rich history and culture anchored in NYC and the Midwest US.

Mentored by the very architects, legends, and contributors of genres rooted in Chicago’s South Side, CTRLZORA’s raw sound spans Midwestern dance music, the diaspora, and beyond—reclaiming the music as a liberatory birthright for Black and queer communities while advocating against inequity within the scene.
Zora has always had a deep passion for navigating the through-lines of Black sonic expression beyond genre — from singing in the church choir and playing piano to later DJing and production. Their father, who was a dancer as house music began to take form, raised them on jazz and dance music from Detroit to Chicago, while their mother, whose roots were in Louisiana, introduced them to gospel and R&B.
Through The Cowrie Chi — a recurring Chicago vinyl-based dance party, archival mix series, and radio show — Zora highlights some of the Midwest’s finest dance music DJs and producers. Alongside serving as a board member of Chicago’s House Music Festival and releasing a limited-edition vinyl record on Kai Alcé’s NDATL label, Zora frequently tours across and outside of the country, presenting their sonic love letters to every crowd.

𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐑𝐀 is a club concept curated by Robin Flux, a Berlin-based DJ/producer, dancer, educator and curator moving between club and dance scenes across Europe, the US, and Asia. Shaped by years of going to the source — from NYC, Chicago, and Detroit to Tokyo and other cities across Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia — he approaches DJing as movement-led storytelling: playful, daring, and deeply rooted in the queer lineages of dance music. As an active member of the ballroom, whacking and house dance scenes, he draws on years of shared practice to give dancers’ movements and stories space at the center of the night, where they are lived rather than referenced.
