The Grief Gallery: Objects of Longing and Belonging - Chinatown Tour (Saturday)
Join us for The Grief Gallery: Objects of Longing and Belonging, a thought-provoking series of walking tours and gatherings that delve into how ordinary objects shape our memories, identities, and sense of place.
🗓️ Saturday, May 16 (11:00am–12:30pm) — Chinatown Walking Tour
Explore the vibrant streets of Chinatown, where we'll highlight neighborhood spaces, everyday objects, and cultural symbols. Together, we’ll reflect on what these items mean to us, what we inherit, and how they fit into our homes and hearts.
🏙️ Meeting Point: Welcome to Chinatown - The Hub, 115 Bowery
🎟️ Admission: Free (RSVP required; please cancel if you can't attend due to limited spaces!)
This unique series invites participants to consider objects not only for their design and utility but for the emotional, personal, and cultural layers they carry. At the heart of this experience lies The Grief Gallery®, a participatory project by curator Charlene Lam that transforms static artifacts into active sites of meaning.
🌍 Participants will have the opportunity to examine how objects oscillate between the practical and the symbolic, becoming iconic in various cultural and personal contexts.
