Thinking about thinking
Hey everyone!
In this meetup, we will chat about something we do all the time, but rarely explicitly critique/observe - the process and the experience of thinking.
Since it is intimately related to one's psyche, the process in itself might be completely unique for each of us. This makes it an interesting phenomenon to collectively ruminate upon.
We will use the following questions as a rough guide:
0. What words would you choose to describe thought in-itself, separate from the process of thinking.
1. What is the essence of the process of thinking?
2. Is there a distance between states of thinking, and feelings/experience?
3. What role does the self play in the process of thinking?
4. Is thinking different from memory (recall)
5. Do you think fast, or slow? Both? Can you switch between the two states at will?
6. Is it possible for you to stop thinking entirely, being free of thoughts
7. Would you say that thinking is valuable? Does it have any harms?
