Trees Atlanta's TreeKeeper program trains volunteers to become leaders in caring for the urban forest. By the end of the program, volunteers can also become a Certified TreeKeeper after completing project leadership requirements. The TreeKeeper program consists of practical tree education over the course of 7 consecutive Saturday sessions; optional 24-hour volunteer service requirement can be completed to earn Certified TreeKeeper status.Training is for ALL levels and explores (topics/topic date subject to change):7/11 - Introduction to Trees Atlanta7/18 - Tree Identification7/25 - Tree Selection8/1 - Tree Health (soil, mature tree care, common tree pests)8/8 - Atlanta's Canopy/Heat Island Effect8/15 - Ecology of Place - Georgia & Atlanta's Urban Forest8/22 - Invasive Plant SpeciesStudents will receive 7 classes, a field guide to trees in the Eastern United States, and a discount at the Annual Trees Atlanta Tree Sale.
