Windmill City Festival

Sobre el evento

Join us for the Windmill City Festival, a cherished tradition in our community that has delighted families for decades! 🌟

Originally known as Batavia Boo Boo Days, this festival started in 1956 as a simple sidewalk sale and blossomed into the vibrant celebration we enjoy today. 💖

The vision from Arthur Swanson of the Batavia Chamber of Commerce introduced unique shopping experiences with clearance items at amazing discounts, leading to an overwhelming success! As community interest grew, we added delicious refreshments and fun activities for kids, allowing adults to shop freely throughout the day. 👗🛍️

To enhance the festive spirit, employees and festival officials donned themed hats and costumes, bringing joy to our attendees! 🎩

Over the years, the festival evolved with exciting events like concerts, the crowning of Miss Batavia, community plays, marathons, and even our fierce annual Tug of War competition! 💪

In 1978, we proudly adopted the name Windmill City Fest to reflect Batavia’s rich history and encompass the festive atmosphere of this city-wide celebration. 🎉

Each summer, Batavians eagerly anticipate this carnival-like experience. So, be sure to swing by downtown and immerse yourself in Batavia’s biggest event of the year! 🎈
