A Rainbow Bridge: Celebrating Pride from San Francisco to Cork

In March, the GLBT Historical Society Museum and Cork Public Museum signed an important memorandum of understanding, setting the stage for the first international loan and exhibition of the original Rainbow Flag. 🌍✨

Be part of this celebratory send-off as the iconic Rainbow Flag embarks on its journey across the Atlantic from San Francisco to Ireland. This meaningful piece of LGBTQ+ history will be on display at the Cork Public Museum for four months.

Created in 1978, the rainbow Pride flag has grown to symbolize LGBTQ+ visibility, resilience, and liberation worldwide. Its journey to Cork is particularly special due to the sister city relationship between San Francisco and Cork, making Cork the flag’s first international stop on this global tour. 🌈

Gather with members of the LGBTQ+ community, civic leaders, cultural partners, and friends from both San Francisco and Ireland to celebrate our shared histories of activism, identity, creativity, and belonging.
