NextWork Build & Brew: Parallel Development with Claude

A hands-on series over a few sessions.

Ready to learn, build, and connect over a great brew? This is your space to roll up your sleeves and build something real — at a pace that actually lets it sink in.

Who it's for

Best for junior to intermediate builders who are comfortable with the basics. Brand-new, first-day developer? You're absolutely welcome — just know we'll move at a real builder's pace, and this one may stretch you (in a good way). Come curious and you'll keep up.

What we're building

Over a few sessions, we'll establish a real parallel development workflow — the way modern teams ship fast by running several streams of work at once, coordinated by AI. We're not rushing it. We take each piece properly, brew in hand, and you leave each session with something that works.

You don't need your own project to join — I'll provide the app repo we'll all work through the lessons on, so everyone builds from the same starting line.

How we work (and why it matters)

We're deliberately not using git worktrees for this. Instead, we clone the full repo for each lane. Every stream gets its own clean, independent space, and it opens up more Human-in-the-Middle (HITM) checkpoints — the moments where you step in, steer the agents, and find room to innovate. It means more shipping, and more room to make each HITM step your own.

The path we'll build together

  1. Clone the repo — spin up multiple full copies of one project (one per lane) so work happens in parallel without collisions. (We'll start by getting everyone's environment solid — a strong setup is what makes the rest click.)
  2. Open your lanes — put each clone on its own development lane (branch) so every stream moves independently.
  3. Scope your features — break the work into clean, well-defined pieces your AI coordination can actually run with.
  4. Peer review — check each other's work, catch collisions early, and keep quality high before anything merges.
  5. Ship it — bring the lanes together and push real, working code live.

What to bring

  • Your laptop and charger (essential!)
  • Claude Code — installed and ready if you can
  • A GitHub account and the gh CLI installed
  • (Optional) your own project repo, if you'd like to apply the workflow to it later
  • A friendly attitude and your favorite beverage (coffee, tea, or brew of choice!)

The vibe

No boring slideshows. Build & Brew is all about learning by doing. Grab a drink, chat with fellow builders, and let's build across the series together.

📍 We meet in Downtown Austin — the exact location is shared with you when you register.

Space is limited — secure your spot today. See you there!
