🎬 Award-Winning Indie Film “Reunion” Heads to Manhattan Film Festival
Written and directed by the talented John W. Kim, a first-generation Korean American storyteller, Reunion is a captivating comedy that revolves around an Asian American funeral home worker. He attends his high school reunion to reignite his life, only to be mistaken for a famous Asian billionaire from another school — a mysterious figure that hasn't been seen since graduation! 🍾
This humorous mix-up unfolds into a vibrant modern farce and adds a delightful twist on the classic Cinderella story. 👑✨
Having debuted at the Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose, Reunion received an incredible response from over 500 attendees and was honored with the Audience Award for Best Comedy Feature! 🏆
Despite the tremendous challenges posed by the Eaton fires in Los Angeles during January 2025, the production team persevered. Many members faced personal losses and displacement, yet their passion for storytelling and belief in independent filmmaking kept them motivated through the trials.
What emerged is a heartwarming ensemble comedy exploring themes of identity, second chances, and the universal yearning to be seen. 🌍❤️
