Bezhlavý jezdec: Komentovaná prohlídka
The late ’90s—a time when dial-up internet was a luxury, music circulated on homemade cassette mixes, and there were so few phone numbers that people memorized them.
It was precisely during this time that the group Bezhlavý jezdec (The Headless Rider) was formed, becoming both a symptom of an era marked by euphoria and uncertainty and the result of a unique encounter between four students at the Academy of Fine Arts (AVU). Josef Bolf, Ján Mančuška, Jan Šerých, and Tomáš Vaněk were entering an art scene that was much more intimate than today’s. They were united by a deep interest in neo-avant-garde art, classical literature, science fiction, and D.I.Y., which at the time stood in contrast to the one-dimensional language of advertising, mainstream pop culture, and the imagery of free-market spectacle.
Curators Sandra Baborovská and Vít Havránek will guide visitors through the exhibition.
