🎥 About the Film:
NOISE GATE is an experimental sci-fi short highlighting the journey of a dimensional traveling scientist on the quest for ultimate reality. Their only route through this mystical realm is the enigmatic NOISE GATE.
🌟 About the Filmmaker:
Donovan J. Gardener (he/they) is an acclaimed filmmaker and director of photography based in Los Angeles. A graduate of the California Institute of the Arts, Gardener’s work encompasses narrative, documentary, and speculative cinema, often centering on themes of Black, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ experiences. Their films explore concepts of care, labor, intimacy, and survival, using collaborative production methods. Gardener also founded StoryGarden Creative Agency, which strives to empower and elevate visual storytelling within underrepresented communities.

The BlackMaria Microcinema is a 40-seat intimate space dedicated to the study, discussion, and disruption of cinema, rooted in a framework of decolonization and abstract thinking.
