Get ready for a thrilling experience as Sophocles meets Tarantino in Berlin International Youth Theatre’s daring reimagining of the ancient revenge tragedy Elektra! 🌵✨
Set against a wild west backdrop, this production unravels family feuds, explosive drama, and a deep dive into the concept of vengeance itself. In the sweltering town of Mycenae, Elektra is consumed with a secret from her childhood: the murder of her father, Agamemnon. Meanwhile, her mother, Clytemnestra, celebrates 15 years as town mayor while her stepfather, Sheriff Aegisthus, rules with terror, employing hitmen Julius and Vincentios to maintain order.
Desperate to shield her sister, Chrysothemis, Elektra resolves to shatter her silence. But exposing the truth in a town steeped in deception comes with consequences. As Elektra fights for her voice, a familiar figure reenters Mycenae—her exiled brother, Orestes, seeking revenge, accompanied by ex-sheriff Paedagogus, who has prepared him for this bloody mission.
As tensions rise and past wounds resurface, will the cycle of violence be broken, or will history repeat itself? There's only one way to find out! 🎭
