Join us for a book discusdion on The Art of Loving by Erich Fromm.

Is love a feeling that happens to us when we meet the right person, or is it a skill that we must actively learn and practice? In this international bestseller, psychoanalyst Erich Fromm argues that love is an art form - much like music or painting - that demands knowledge, focus, and practice. Instead of focusing on being loved, Fromm challenges us to learn how to love. It is a profound, accessible guide that explores romantic love, parental love, brotherly love, and self-love. In doing so, it bridges the personal and the political, examining love both as an intimate individual practice and as a collective social force shaped by modern capitalism.

Erich Fromm was a world-renowned German-American social psychologist, psychoanalyst, and humanistic philosopher. Born in Frankfurt, he was a key early member of the Frankfurt School, where he pioneered the fusion of psychoanalysis with critical theory. He later broke away from the group due to theoretical differences and fled Nazi Germany, becoming a leading intellectual in the United States. His sharp insights into human nature and modern isolation remain incredibly relevant today.
