Creatures of the Night Walk 🦇
Join Genesee Land Trust, along with Martha Zettel (a long-time Land Trust member and retired bat biologist) and Bill O’Neill, for an enchanting evening stroll through the Salmon Creek Nature Preserve (Hilton) as we delve into the magical world of nighttime wildlife! 🌙
Using displays, bat detectors, and sound analysis software, you'll discover fascinating facts about our local bats before we head out to observe them as they hunt for insects utilizing their incredible echolocation skills. 🦇
We'll also listen for the melodious sounds of night-singing katydids and crickets, and if luck is on our side, we might even catch a glimpse of them using our flashlights! 🔦
Preparation Tips:
- Bring a small flashlight 👟
- Wear closed shoes
- Be ready for mosquitoes and ticks!
Important Note: Bats do not fly in the rain, and our equipment is not waterproof. If it rains, we will use the rain date (August 8th ☔).
Registration is required due to limited attendee slots. Register here to secure your spot!
