Dan Bárta & Robert Balzar Trio

Following a spring concert with Jana Kirschner that was truly one of a kind, Czech double bassist Robert Balzar returns to Malý Berlín.

This time he is joined by another singer of the highest calibre, Dan Bárta. This musical collaboration brings together a highly acclaimed band from the Czech jazz scene, known for their original compositions and performances, and a multi-genre popular singer-songwriter whose eclectic work is rooted primarily in rock and soul. Stylistically, this collaboration sits somewhere at the intersection of jazz and pop; moreover, their joint work is partly conceptual and synthetic.

Dan Bárta is a Czech singer-songwriter whose original work, presented with a high level of craftsmanship, is respected by audiences, fellow musicians and critics alike. He has released more than twenty albums of his own compositions with various ensembles and has performed on numerous occasions with artists such as Bobby McFerrin and WB3. He is the recipient of ten Czech Music Awards.

Robert Balzar is a Czech double bassist, bass guitarist, composer, teacher and arranger whose artistry extends beyond the borders of his homeland. In addition to many prominent Czech artists, he has collaborated with such international names as Kurt Elling, Erik Truffaz, Arturo Sandoval, John Abercrombie and others. The Robert Balzar Trio features equally brilliant Czech musicians Vít Křišťan (piano) and Kamil Slezák (drums).
