Join us for an exceptional evening celebrating Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem, a serene and spiritually intimate setting for the Mass for the Dead, deeply influenced by the Gregorian chant of the ‘Missa pro defunctis’. Experience the harmonic beauty woven by Duruflé, reflecting his mastery of the French cathedral tradition.
The Whitehall Choir will be accompanied by a string quintet from the Dionysus Ensemble for Michael Higgins’ emotionally charged piece, The Cloths of Heaven, set to three love poems by Yeats.
Additionally, we will perform Gabriel Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine, a much-loved piece renowned for its beautiful melodies and deep emotional resonance, in an arrangement for choir, organ, and strings by Michael Higgins.
To conclude our program, the Dionysus Ensemble will delight you with Mozart’s three-movement Divertimento in D Major, a charming work written when the composer was just 16, showcasing his youthful elegance.
