Join us for an engaging discussion on economic inequality!
A prevalent belief suggests that free markets lead to an escalating and unsustainable divide between the affluent and impoverished, prompting the need for governmental intervention. Karl Marx famously articulated this in The Communist Manifesto, arguing that the conditions of laborers worsen as the bourgeoisie fail to ensure their well-being. This notion echoes in the saying, “the rich keep getting richer, while the poor keep getting poorer.”
But are these statements accurate? Is economic inequality in a free market inherently positive or negative for society?
In our meetup, I will present eight arguments defending economic inequality under capitalism, exploring both its moral implications and its impact. We encourage participants to challenge these viewpoints and share their own arguments about the institution of economic inequality.
After our discussion, those interested are invited to continue the conversation at a nearby restaurant! 🍽️
