🧪 What is FLIP TABLE;?

FLIP TABLE; is an open-to-all showcase celebrating the wonderfully weird world of unconventional databases — anything that can read and write data, but with an unexpected, clever, or downright goofy twist.

Think of it as a science fair for strange storage systems.

🤔 What counts as a "weird" database?

Forget your boring traditional databases (👎 crowd booing). People have managed to read and write arbitrary data using things like:

• 🎮 Tetris
• 🧪 Used COVID-19 Cue tests
• 🌐 The internet itself
• ☑️ Checkboxes
• 📺 YouTube
• 🚇 A MetroCard (hasn't been done yet, but it's possible!)
• 🔗 DNS — the system that translates URLs into IP addresses
• 🐦 Birds???

The possibilities are as absurd as your imagination allows.

📋 How Does It Work?

This is not a hackathon — you'll need to build your database before the event. It could be something you created years ago or just two hours before the showcase. No pressure either way!

Wander the science-fair-style floor, explore other attendees' databases, and actually try reading and writing data to them.

Short talks from anyone who wants to dig into the process, quirks, or backstory behind their database creation.
