Intro to Backpacking: An All-Women Weekend Trip!

Join us this summer for an unforgettable weekend in Harriman State Park! Partnering with OurSpot, we present an all-inclusive, beginner-friendly backpacking weekend designed especially for women. If you've been curious about backpacking but felt daunted by gear and logistics, this is your chance!

Over the weekend, you'll:

• Learn the fundamentals of backpacking
• Carry a properly fitted backpack
• Set up camp alongside experienced guides
• Cook and share meals in a supportive environment
• Sleep under the stars in the heart of nature

🌲 Is This Trip Right for You?

This trip welcomes beginner backpackers and requires a willingness to embrace the camping lifestyle. You should:

• Be comfortable carrying a backpack up to 35 lbs for about 1 mile on uneven trails.
• Be ready to camp without running water, showers, or bathrooms. (Leave No Trace bathroom practices will be taught by your guides.)

No prior experience is needed, just bring a positive attitude and a sense of adventure!

Your ticket supports professional women outdoor guides breaking into a traditionally male-dominated field. Join us in making outdoor leadership more diverse and inclusive!

Space is intentionally limited to 6 participants per trip to create a personalized and enjoyable learning experience.

• Cancellation & Refund Policy:

  • 7+ days before: 75% refund.
  • Less than 7 days: No refunds.
  • If canceled by Girls Gone Hiking, you can transfer to another weekend or receive a full refund.

• Can I arrange my own transportation?
  Yes, you can meet the group at the trailhead, but the price remains $225 regardless.

• What do I bring?
  A lightweight packing list with clothes & toiletries will be sent one week prior, along with a virtual Q&A session.

• Is this trip dog-friendly?
  Not for this event. To ensure everyone's safety and comfort, dogs are not allowed.
