The international opera and music festival Janáček Brno is one of the most exclusive events of its kind here and in all of Europe.

The 10th edition of the international Janáček Brno Festival will take place from October 13 to November 17, 2026. Brno, a city inseparably connected with the life and work of Leoš Janáček, will once again become the center of world music.

Featured works include Bohuslav Martinů's "Divadlo za bránou" (Theatre Beyond the Gate), a premiere production. This innovative staging blurs the boundaries between opera, dance, and carnival joy, bringing Martinů's vision of a free, improvisational marketplace theatre to life. A young generation of artists revives this work, which originally captivated audiences through its fusion of folk roots with modern jazz and unconventional rhythm. The production celebrates Martinů's enduring relevance and creative spirit, welcoming both opera connoisseurs and first-time theatre-goers.
