The 10th edition of the international Janáček Brno Festival will take place from October 13 to November 17, 2026. Brno, a city inseparably connected with the life and work of Leoš Janáček, will once again become the center of world music.

Festival highlights include Bohuslav Martinů: Divadlo za bránou (repriza) at Mahenovo divadlo on October 23, 2026. This production invites audiences into a world where the boundaries between opera, dance, and carnival joy blur. Drawing on Martinů's concept of "divadlo za bránou" (theater beyond the gate)—a marketplace stage embodying freedom, spontaneity, and improvisation—a young generation of artists brings this vision to 2026. The work celebrates Martinů's fusion of folk roots with modern jazz and distinctive rhythm, demonstrating that his music remains vibrant and relevant today.
