Java Debugger for AI Agents, Agentic Development with OpenClaw

This time we're going to have an event in the Jetbrains offices at Pankrác on the topic of Agentic Development and Debugging with (or without?) Java.

📍 The meetup will happen on Monday May 25th, 2026, at JetBrains, Na Hřebenech II 1718/8, 14000 Prague - Nusle.
🕠 Door open at 5:30 PM and we will start with talks at 6:00 PM.

No parking is available at the location.
Entry is allowed only to people registered at this Luma event. At the reception, you'll need to register again due to the Jetbrains' security policy, via the Envoy app on their tablet.
Between 17:30 and 18:15, there will be a CZJUG organizer at the reception, who will welcome you, verify that you registered at Luma, and will explain how to get to the meetup room at the 2nd floor.

Java Debugger in the Hands of AI
Most of us have already tried delegating bug fixing to AI agents. However, the result often turns into an inefficient loop of adding debug prints, recompiling, and waiting for the build. But why force AI to work blindly with code when it can have access to the same information as a developer in the IDE?
In this talk, we will introduce mcp-jdwp-java — an open source implementation of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, which gives LLM agents direct access to the Java debugger. We will show how this integration changes the game: instead of guessing, the agent systematically examines the JVM state, sets breakpoints, and evaluates expressions directly on the running process.
Jan (Honza) Novotný has been programming in Java for more than 25 years. In recent years, under the FG Forrest banner, he has devoted himself to open-source projects, primarily the development of the specialized database evitaDB. He is an active member of the Czech community: he co-organizes the "unconference" jOpenSpace and regularly gives lectures at JavaDays. In the past you may also have known him as the host of the popular videocast Kafemlejnek.tv.
Will Java Survive the Age of AI Project Builders?
In the past six months, I’ve built three side projects with AI agents. Only the first was written in Java with Spring. In this talk, I’ll cut through the buzzwords around agentic development, share what building with tools like Claude and OpenClaw actually feels like, and explain why Java is no longer my first choice for new projects, along with what would need to change for it to become one again.

Vladimir Oraný is a Principal Software Engineer at Agorapulse with a background in backend systems and developer tooling. Recently, he has been exploring agentic development through side projects built with AI coding agents, with a focus on what this shift means for real-world software engineering.
