🌊 Welcome to Kvartyrnyk #25! 🌊
Join us as we shine a light on the incredible efforts of Swedish volunteers in Ukraine. This event is dedicated to Johanna Fries Markiewicz, her family, and their impactful work in Ukraine.
🔍 About Johanna:
Johanna has spent many years at the Swedish National Archives and first visited Ukraine in 2008. In 2021, she played a vital role as the courier for the historical exhibition of Pylyp Orlyk's Constitution at the Saint Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv. Many remember her work on the transformative exhibition "Crossroads" at the Army Museum, which beautifully depicted the evolving relationships between our countries.
💬 A Personal Journey:
From 2022 onward, Johanna has visited Ukraine multiple times, immersing herself in its culture and building networks within the community. She believes her role is to connect and unite people through her volunteer efforts. In 2025, she received the Olha Order 3rd Degree, acknowledging her dedication, yet she humbly credits her Ukrainian friends for teaching her the true values of life.
🕊 In Memory of Jakob:
This event will also honor Johanna's brother, Jakob, who passed away in March 2026. A dear friend of Ukraine, he dedicated himself to water purification projects. Hence, the theme: Clean Water.
