Learning with Nature | Monarch Migration

Join us for an enriching hands-on field study with Kimberly Kelly, Horticulture Director at Grace Farms, and experts from Kansas State University. Together, we'll explore our beautiful 80 acres of landscape, safely recording, tagging, and releasing monarch butterflies. 🦋✨

In this workshop, you'll learn techniques to net, tag, and record monarchs, ensuring a healthy migration, successful winter survival, and effective reproduction as they head north in the spring and back in the summer. To wrap up our session, enjoy a cup of our delightful butterfly pea flower tea accompanied by a culinary treat in the Commons. 🌺☕🍰

Did you know that over the past few decades, monarch butterfly populations have declined by nearly 90%? As part of Kansas State University’s Monarch Watch program, Grace Farms is committed to enhancing the monarch habitat, and this summer we will actively participate in the tagging program.

Recommended for ages 12 and up. Please note that due to uneven terrain during the field portion, strollers, walkers, and wheelchairs are not advisable.
