Lecture-performance: 𝘔𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩 𝘗𝘪𝘦𝘤𝘦, with Anna Pezzoli and Samuel Georgy

On July 18 at 14:00 Anna Pezzoli and Samuel Georgy will present their lecture-performance 𝘔𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩 𝘗𝘪𝘦𝘤𝘦 in Fuxia 2, as part of the exhibition 𝗘𝗬𝗘𝗦 𝗜𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗠𝗔𝗖𝗛!Despite the geographical distance—Anna Pezzoli based in Malmö, Samuel Georgy between Berlin and Lyon—the artists discovered, through a regular exchange, a striking convergence in their readings and references. They share an interest in language: Georgy works with narratives of demonised figures, which he often abstracts through the medium of sculpture, while Pezzoli, from an autobiographical perspective, sees speech as bodily material, something that can leave the body as well as get stuck in it, and that can be deformed into puns. 𝘔𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩 𝘗𝘪𝘦𝘤𝘦 develops as a live moment where this tension between body and language takes the form of a lecture-performance. Navigating the distance between the lack of speech and its excess, the lecture exposes and tests the mouth. The chalkboard serves as the central prop: it is the surface where one is first asked to learn, and thus first experiences "not yet knowing." From the child to the foreigner, passing through the stuttering body, systems of control are brought to the surface while the mouth, as an organ of rebellion, refuses to be disciplined.The lecture-performance will be held in English.Our locale is wheelchair accessible.𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄! Once the performance is over (it lasts approx. 30 minutes) the plan is to go together to Bonderups Konsthall and visit Pezzoli’s exhibition, which closes the week after.
