LiftOver with LC and Friends: Ancient Strength with Ben Savin
LiftOver is like a sleepover, but instead we go lifting. Lifters Coalition and friends visit coaches' gyms and activities that are adjacent to the Lifters Coalition.
This is our first, and we chose ancient strength and Ben Savin. Because we love a bit of grassroots realness. We will be playing with Bulgarian bags, Indian clubs, and who knows, may be a few shields.
We are visiting Ben in the Commanda temple, where he teaches ancient strength, runs clubs, and queer strongwo/men.
Ben says
" I'm delighted to welcome the lifter's coalition to the Commando Temple to have a go at some of the more ancient and unusual strength tools!
Persian shields, meels and Indian clubs have a history that goes back at least 1000 years and were originally used to train warriors to hold shields and fight with swords.
Bulgarian bags are based on an ancient tradition in Bulgaria of carrying animals on the shoulders... believe it or not, their shape is meant to replicate a lamb!
All of these tools challenge strength, mobility, co-ordination...and they're so much fun! "
Join us on this day to liftover. LC friends are welcome.
