Rio Drop 'Gaze/Rewind' 1-17 May

Join us for Gaze/Rewind, a captivating exhibition by Rio Drop at Detroit Stockholm! This thought-provoking showcase, running from the 1st to the 17th of May, features two intriguing narratives:

✨ Rewind: A journey through the aftermath of a life-altering accident, where time and a personal photo archive intertwine to create new perspectives.
✨ Tresse de Méduse: An exploration of how the gaze of others can petrify, crafted through the antique technique of ‘hårarbete’ to transform human hair into symbolic snakes—a powerful talisman reclaiming women’s presence in public spaces.

🔍 About the Artist:
Rio Drop, based in Örebro, Sweden, holds a Bachelor of Art from the Royal Academy of Fine Art in The Hague. Her versatile practice spans assemblage, sculpture, installation, and video, often incorporating human hair to explore themes of women's visibility, loss, and resilience.
