Join us at Mason & Fifth for an intimate evening celebrating Hypnos, the ethereal new album from guitarist and composer Robin Katz.
Rooted in jazz tradition yet influenced by a diverse range—flamenco, bossa nova, neo-classical minimalism, funk, soul, and 90s hip-hop—Katz has shared the stage with renowned artists like Disclosure, Reuben James, Georgia Cecile, Giacomo Smith, Kourosh Kanani, the London Django Collective, and Joseph Lawrence. His debut EP Oceans for Eros, crafted with orchestrator Guy Barker, showcased his expansive musical voice, followed by the celebrated Rock Music, produced by FREEMONK.
In Hypnos, Katz embraces a quieter, more contemplative sound. Deceptively intricate nylon-string guitar lines coexist with warm, atmospheric textures from Nathanial Ledwidge on Hammond organ, crafting music that feels both intimate and expansive, grounded yet dreamlike. The album flows seamlessly, each composition leading into the next like a single breath.
Join us for a unique listening experience that invites us to inhabit the music together. Between tracks, the room will open up for conversations about the music and the invisible threads that give it life—the fears we carry in silence, the experiences that shape us, the comfort of memory, the promise of hope, the beauty found in uncertainty, and the quiet courage of renewal. We'll explore themes of love, surrender, doubt, belonging, joy, and grief, reflecting on the small moments that define us.
There are no right answers, only stories, reflections, and shared experiences. Just like the album, our dialogue will dance between stillness and movement, allowing everyone to transform from listeners to participants.
Hosted by Leon Rehman, this is an evening for anyone who believes that music is more than just sound—it may just help us recognize ourselves in one another.
