Robroyston Commemoration

🌟 Join us for a heartfelt evening of remembrance! 🌟 Gather at 19:00 for a service starting at 19:30 at the magnificent memorial in Robroyston, located just a quick two-minute walk from the iconic Wallace Well.

This poignant event commemorates the capture of William Wallace—a pivotal moment in Scottish history. On 3rd August 1305, Wallace was betrayed and taken to Dumbarton Castle, where his famous sword was left behind, before being transported to London for a sham trial and eventual execution.

📜 As we reflect on his defiance, we'll share powerful words from the book Lives of Scottish Worthies by Patrick Fraser Tytler, featuring Wallace's declaration:

“I cannot be a traitor, for I owe him no allegiance...”

This annual commemoration, organized by the Society of William Wallace (SOWW), allows us to honor his legacy through a short but meaningful service. Expect a speech from a member of the committee and an invited guest speaker. We encourage attendees to participate and share their thoughts, continuing the tradition of this gathering.
