RSVP: Experience Kintsugi: An Intro to the World of Pottery Repair

Join us for a transformative workshop where you'll delve into the art of Kintsugi! This ancient Japanese technique celebrates the beauty of imperfection through the repair of broken pottery.

What to Expect:

• History & Philosophy: Discover the rich background and values behind Kintsugi.
• Hands-On Experience: Work with traditional materials and natural urushi lacquer!
• Create Your Own Masterpiece: Apply a metallic finish to a prepared ceramic piece,
  which you can proudly take home.
• Personal Pieces: Choose to bond broken pieces, whether it's a prepared sample or a palm-sized piece of your own (up to 5 fragments).
• Intimate Group Setting: Enjoy a quiet learning environment to foster creativity.

Important Safety Note:

Urushi lacquer contains urushiol – the same allergen found in poison ivy. Gloves will be provided, along with comprehensive safety instructions. If skin contact occurs, it’s essential to massage the area with plant-based oil and wash with soap and water. This workshop is not recommended for those with severe urushiol allergies.

Age Requirement:

Participants must be 16+.

What to Wear:

Dress in clothing you don’t mind getting dirty!

What to Bring:

All materials will be provided. You may bring an optional broken piece to mend, but note that only the initial bonding step can be completed during this session.
