Join us for a fantastic free seining program on City of Water Day at the beautiful Harlem River! 🐟 Grab some waders and help us drag a seining net along the river's edge to uncover the incredible biodiversity in our waterways. You'll get the chance to learn how to identify various species like fish, crabs, and jellyfish!
All necessary equipment will be provided, but remember to wear clothes you don’t mind getting wet! 🌧️
Participants must be 12 years or older to join the seining activity, but everyone is welcome to engage in our exciting shoreline activities!
This year marks the 19th annual City of Water Day—an initiative organized by Waterfront Alliance and the New York–New Jersey Harbor & Estuary Program (HEP) that promotes a climate-resilient harbor.
From 11 AM to 2 PM, our Natural Areas staff will guide you in using a 30-foot net to discover unique species in this dynamic ecosystem. 🌱 Plus, part of our beloved Salt Marsh will be brought to the beach, where our team will showcase local wildlife and share insights about this vital ecosystem that protects areas from flooding and erosion while creating habitats for countless creatures.
📍 Location: Water’s Edge Garden Beach at The Rock Dock
