Second Nature: Opening Reception

Join us for the opening reception of Second Nature, a two-person exhibition featuring the paintings of Gwen Yip and Spencer Patrick — two artists exploring a city that never looks back at you.

Both artists will be present at the event, with complimentary wine served.

• Gwen Yip's Subway Backs series observes train riders from behind on New York subway platforms, capturing their isolation against the architectural backdrop.
• Spencer Patrick's Artificial echoes this theme, depicting solitary figures — barefoot and eyes closed — enjoying comforts they've created, such as diet soda, sunscreen, and climate control.

These works invite reflection on the contrast between public passage and private ritual, questioning how the man-made has shaped our nature and what remains of the original environment.
