Sonic Citizens

Join us for Sonic Citizens, a vibrant celebration of culture and creativity in Malmö's Culture Sound Zone! Hosted at various venues including Hypnos Theatre, Bullret Musikhus, and Galleri 8:an, this annual event fosters collaboration among academics, artists, activists, and policy makers.

The theme for this year is Creating Together and Building Community. Expect a rich program featuring workshops led by the Shortwave Collective, Teranga Music Collective, LARARIUM, and other talented creators. Special guests include esteemed radio studies scholar Kate Lacey from the University of Sussex and Andreas Schönström, who will engage in a panel discussion with local culture representatives.

Experience performances, exhibitions, and installations from local arts groups like the Nablus Arabic Culture Association, Arab Women’s Union, Suji Varma, Firadelic, Jan-Inge Ljungberg, and Bad People Good Animals, with more surprises to come!

This event is organized under the concept of Sonic Citizenship, encouraging inclusivity and fostering a sense of belonging through sound. It's part of a collaboration between the NGBG culture association and Malmö University, aimed at critical reflection and sustainable urban development in the Sofielund Industrial area.
