About Bowne & Co.
Founded in 1775 by Robert Bowne, Bowne & Co. is New York’s oldest continuously operating business under the same name. This historic entity transitioned from financial printing in the 19th and 20th centuries to partner with the Seaport Museum in 1975. They now feature a vintage-style print shop located at 211 Water Street in the South Street Seaport Historic District. Today, it comprises the Bowne & Co. Printing Office, which keeps alive the age-old tradition of small-batch printing using historic presses, and the Bowne & Co. Stationers, a charming emporium offering gifts and fine goods.
