Mark is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate from the University of Georgia and the founder of Medicine Bow, a nationally acclaimed wilderness school located in the beautiful mountains of Dahlonega, GA. With a career spanning decades, he was honored as Georgia’s Conservation Educator of the Year by the National Wildlife Federation in 1980. As a U.S. National Champion in whitewater canoeing and a World Champion Longbow titleholder, Mark combines his adventurous spirit with a deep understanding of nature.

An accomplished author, Mark has published extensively in local and national magazines, with 18 traditionally published books to his name. His contributions have earned him numerous accolades, including the Spur Awards, Will Rogers Medallion Awards, and the Georgia Author of the Year Award in 2022 for his literary work, Song of the Horseman.
