Tomáš Zelený Trio

Drummer Tomáš Zelený, a graduate of the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno (JAMU), belongs to the young generation of jazz musicians who naturally build on tradition while developing a distinctive approach to jazz music. He collaborates with numerous prominent figures in the Prague music scene, and his style is characterised by sensitivity, dynamism, and rhythmic sophistication.

During his studies, he completed a semester in the United States, where he became deeply acquainted with gospel music and actively participated in the vibrant local music scene. This experience significantly enriched his musical vocabulary with new rhythmic and harmonic approaches and deepened his interest in the spiritual and communal dimensions of music.

Alongside jazz, he has long been dedicated to Brazilian music, whose rhythmic and melodic richness is strongly reflected in his playing. In addition to his performance activities, Tomáš also works as an arranger, bridging jazz tradition with the search for a contemporary sound.
