What can happen when we make space not only to talk about greener cities, but to feel our connection to them first? We invite you to an evening to slow down, draw, and reconnect with nature — right in the middle of the city.

Through embodied meditation techniques, guided by Berlin-based artist Bhavna Shivayogimath, we will awaken our senses and travel through memories and images of the natural world. Then we'll talk about how Berlin is transforming itself through BaumEntscheid — a grassroots citizens' initiative that pushed the Berlin Senate to commit to one of the most ambitious urban greening projects in its history — and how you can be part of it. We'll close with drinks, snacks, and good conversations.

The Workshop
This is not a typical drawing workshop. Instead of focusing on aesthetics, we use drawing to cultivate our sensory awareness. Through different techniques, we explore the connection between mind and body — and from this mindful state we connect with sounds, images, and memories of nature. Our imagination will lead to a sense of connection with the natural world around us.
The Salon
After the workshop, we'll talk about Berlin's new climate adaptation law, born from BaumEntscheid — which pushed the Berlin Senate to commit to planting one tree every 15 meters by 2040 and creating thousands of new green spaces across the city.

About Bhavna Shivayogimath
Bhavna Shivayogimath is a Berlin-based artist who works with painting, photography and film. Graduated from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, her work explores the relationship between humans and the natural world as a projection of memory, loss and desire.

About BaumEntscheid
BaumEntscheid is a Berlin-based citizens' initiative founded in 2023 with one mission: making Berlin climate-ready. Through months of volunteer-driven work, they wrote Germany's first municipal climate adaptation law — the BäumePlus-Gesetz — which was adopted by the Berlin Senate in November 2025 with cross-party support. The law commits Berlin to planting a tree every 15 meters on every street, creating 1,000 cooling islands, 100 new parks, and cooling the city's hottest neighbourhoods by 2°C by 2040. The initiative continues to monitor implementation and welcomes anyone who wants to get involved.
