Unbroken x MKE
In 2020, I faced an unfathomable loss when my 17-year-old son, Gavyn, succumbed to fentanyl poisoning. 🌹 Like countless families, I was left grappling with a tragedy that shouldn't have occurred. To heal, I picked up a camera, leading me back to my passion—telling stories that allow people to feel seen.
🔔 Introducing UNBROKEN: A portrait and storytelling initiative created to honor lives lost to overdose, support those remaining, and instill a reminder that hope and healing are achievable.
✨ I'm thrilled to share our next chapter: UNBROKEN x Milwaukee!
- Date: September 17, 2026
- Location: Milwaukee Makers Market, 626 N Harbor Dr, Milwaukee, WI 53202, United States
During National Recovery Month, join us for a moving evening filled with portraits, storytelling, connection, and community.
📷 What to Expect:
- Walk through a gallery filled with powerful stories from those affected by overdose.
- Engage in heartfelt conversations with others who understand this journey.
- Share in stories from parents who have lost children, individuals facing overdose loss, and family members navigating grief.
✨ For those inspired to participate, we’ll also be photographing portraits and gathering stories for our first public UNBROKEN mural—a large-scale community art project honoring lives lost, celebrating recovery, and extending hope to those still struggling.
🤝 I'm grateful to collaborate once again with Jeremiah Martinez (@butterwiththeshutter), who made our first Wisconsin gallery an unforgettable experience.
This initiative transcends statistics. It focuses on the individuals we've lost, those still here, and those in need of hope today. If overdose has touched your life in any way, I encourage you to join us. Healing begins when we share our stories together.
