Urdu Poetry Workshop: Faiz Ahmed Faiz

Join us for an interactive session delving into Faiz Ahmed Faiz's poetry! This workshop will include:

• A brief introduction to Faiz and an overview of the influences on his poetry.
• Analysis of the poem 'mujh se pehli si mohabbat mere mehboob na maang'

Participants will receive a copy of the poem and will be encouraged to engage with and interpret it. We will also explore the historical context of the poem, providing both a universal and time-specific framework for interpretation.

👩‍🏫 Facilitator: Zahra Halepota
Zahra has an academic background in Anthropology, focusing on Indo-Persian literary and visual cultures. She holds a BSc in Anthropology from UCL and a master's in Transcultural Studies from Heidelberg University. With an interdisciplinary interest in Indo-Persian literature, she completed her thesis on an ecological interpretation of Sindhi poetry and has extensively studied Persian literature at Ca Foscari University, Venice. Additionally, she practices Islamic Illumination and Persian miniature painting.
