Vann House Day 2026

Celebrate the 68th anniversary of the Vann House's establishment as a historic site! We'll be hosting demonstrations of activities once part of daily life for early 19th century Cherokee and Moravian missionaries. Demonstrations will include corn grinding, wood working, leather britches, weaving, spinning, butter churning, doll making, ancient tools, hominy, black powder rifles, and more! We are honored to host Dane Roberts, archaeologist and historian, for his presentation, "The Cherokee-American War: the Struggle for Cherokee Sovereignty." As the longest lasting war between the indigenous American and the European colonizers, the war of 1776-1794 shaped the Golden Age of the Cherokee nation, and affected their future relations with the newfounded American government forever. This presentation is included in admission for Vann House Day and will start at 1:30p.m. in the Visitor Center theater. All activities are included in admission. Admission is $8.00 per person to be paid at the door, give and under is free as are Friends of the Vann House annual membership holders. There are NO third-party ticket sales, admission is puchased on site the day of the event. Activities are outdoors and weather permitting. There is no rain date for this event.
