Dive into Depths and Battles, where Isabella Solar Villaseca unveils a captivating series of large-scale sculptures and installations inspired by a cherished family photo album. These images—sent from her family in Sweden to their relatives in Chile—showcase moments of togetherness, dance, and celebration.

In this exhibition, the artist draws attention to the subtle backgrounds of everyday spaces: the faded tulips on wallpaper, the unyielding radiator, and the rough textures of facades. These fragments reveal the intertwining of interior design ideals and housing policies that surrounded life within these walls.

Accompanied by a unique soundscape featuring South American melodies, official ceremonies of the welfare state, and nostalgic 90s ballads, the artworks express a profound sense of melancholy and longing. Solar Villaseca explores how diasporic communities are shaped by both the architecture of our homes and the care we offer each other.

About the Artist:
Isabella Solar Villaseca (b. 1992) is based in Malmö and Copenhagen. Her work spans installation, sculpture, text, and video, focusing on how history, politics, and architecture inform our contemporary existence. Educated at the Bergen Academy of Art and Design and the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, her previous exhibitions include Overgaden, Vermilion Sand, and more.
