Výstavou GA-I-SU-RA s Ester a Aňou Geislerovými
Czech Japanologist, translator, journalist, calligrapher, photographer, and educator Petr Geisler (1949–2009) made a unique and distinctive contribution to the development of relations between the Czech Republic (formerly Czechoslovakia) and Japan, and not only through the bold strokes and brushwork of his art.
This exhibition, dedicated to Geisler’s life’s work, presents him in the most comprehensive form to date—from his expressive calligraphic works, which he created spontaneously during his free time between work, through his multiple-exposure photographs from 1980s Japan, to the monumental transcription of the Buddhist Heart Sutra, which once adorned the wall of the passageway in the Metro Palace on Národní třída in Prague.
GA-I-SU-RA is not only an exhibition paying tribute to the person and work of Petr Geisler, but also a tribute to calligraphy as a form of inner expression. It serves as a reminder that writing and beautiful handwriting have always been a natural reflection (not only) of a pure soul.
Delve deeper on a guided tour with Ester and Ani Geisler.
