This glamorous film follows Wanda and Marie, two New York showgirls living lavishly while escorting affluent businessmen. Drenched in furs and jewels, they navigate through champagne-soaked nights, treating romance as a mere transaction. However, things take a turn when Wanda, disillusioned by her empty existence, discovers true love with the cash-strapped Jim.

Women and Cocaine Presents is a film evening curated by Caroline Cassin at The Cinema Museum, celebrating the fierce and liberated women of Pre-Code cinema from 1930 to 1934. During this time, women were portrayed in bold and frank roles, showcasing a level of sex-positivity that remains rare today. Each month, we honor a different woman from this period.
