Lately, it feels like the world is one endless bad news cycle. Joshua Idehen isn’t here to pretend otherwise but on the spoken word artist’s new album, ‘I Know You’re Hurting, Everyone Is Hurting, Everyone Is Trying, You Have Got To Try’ released today, he provides a phenomenal sonic, poetic space. Made with his creative partner, musician Ludvig Parment (Saturday Monday), the album is an urgent yet transcendent collection that holds you through it all, filled with grief, euphoria and hope. After years of honing his craft, ‘I Know You’re Hurting, Everyone Is Hurting, Everyone Is Trying, You Have Got To Try’ finds Joshua Idehen’s pen reaching the next level. This work is truly arresting – yet, thanks to Parment’s immersive soundscapes, it often makes you want to wave your arms in the air and dance. Come August, we’ll all be arm-waving and dancing when Joshua Idehen takes the stage in Slottsskogen!
