Antarctica – Tři póly: Petr Horký a Štěpán Rak
A travel lecture by polar explorer Petr Horký on his major polar expedition to Antarctica. The talk will be accompanied by guitar virtuoso Štěpán Rak.
At the turn of the year, polar explorer Petr Horký completed a unique trio of expeditions. He became the first Czech to reach the three poles: the South Pole, the North Pole, and the Pole of Cold in Siberia, which is the coldest inhabited place on the planet.
In honor of Petr Horký’s expedition, guitar virtuoso, composer, and educator Štěpán Rak composed the Antarctica suite, which you will hear during this exceptional evening.
How do you prepare for a journey to places where temperatures drop below -30 degrees Celsius, and what might even surprise an experienced traveler in Antarctica? How do you actually get to Antarctica? And how is it that Petr saw as many as three poles in Antarctica? You’ll learn all this and much more during this exceptional evening.
