Asian LitChat: Short Story Books 📚✨

Join us for an engaging discussion about Short Story Books! Our Asian LitChat meetups create welcoming spaces for deeper, reflective conversations centered around Asian literature. Each meetup explores a different theme, encouraging participants to either read relevant books or share insights on those they've already enjoyed.

This session will specifically focus on short stories within Asian literature. These literary gems provide glimpses into diverse worlds, histories, cultures, and emotional landscapes—sometimes just a page or two in length. They encapsulate entire universes while still allowing room for interpretation and dialogue. Let's journey through Asian (including Asian-diaspora) literature via the lens of literary short stories.

What to Expect during our Asian LitChat:

Every participant is encouraged to bring 1 to 3 literary Short Story Books—either collections by an individual Asian author or anthologies featuring multiple Asian writers. Choose the books you feel passionate about discussing!

We'll form smaller groups so that everyone can share insights about at least one of the books they brought (time permitting, there may be more!). Feel free to discuss anything you find intriguing about the book. Others can ask questions and share their own thoughts related to the book, fostering a rich atmosphere for broader reflections on Asian short stories.

Each group is encouraged to lead their discussions openly and informally. We will provide prompts to help guide and deepen conversations if desired. Every reflection, insight, and perspective is valued—everyone's experiences with the theme are welcomed!

Our (Flexible) Program:

• 15:00-15:30: Ordering drinks & treats and introductions ☕🍰
• 15:30-16:30: Asian LitChat: Short Story Books
• 16:30-17:00: Sharing & Wrap-Up

About the Asian Book Club Helsinki
