Camellias at Vergelegen: Gardens and History
Join us at Vergelegen, home to over 1,000 stunning camellias, recognized as an International Camellia Garden of Excellence—the only one in Africa!
Led by the knowledgeable Alistair, who has played a vital role in propagating this collection, you’ll witness these beauties in their peak bloom during Cape Town’s winter. Alistair shares his passion for plants and narrates the fascinating history of the estate, established in 1700, including stories of shipwreck treasure, visits from British royalty, and Nelson Mandela’s VIP dinner.
Cost:
- R350 for early birds 🐦
- R450 standard fee 💰
Upon arrival at Vergelegen, please pay a separate entrance fee of R20 (R10 for pensioners and students) at the security boom; this is not included in the advance payment.
