Collective Memory + Collaging

Collective Memory + Collaging

Info sull'evento

Join us for a memory-weaving + collaging workshop, centered on the praxis of sustaining maternal-figure histories by sharing family stories through collective conversation and art-making.

We encourage you to bring your family (biological and/or chosen) to hold collective memories in community with one another. We will follow our intentional conversation with a crafting session, collaging with archived family photos of maternal ancestors/elders mentioned in conversation.

This communal conversation will focus on the power of words passed down. This includes both spoken and written. We will reflect on the meaning, impact, and value of various generational texts that have influenced our women elders.

We encourage you to bring personal literary archives (recipes, Bible verses, names/sayings, diaries/journals, letters/cards, magazines/books) that hold lineage sentiment. These personal family archives will be utilized to enrich the conversations during verbal reflections.

Be sure to bring family photos on your phone. We will have a Polaroid printer available to add personal archives to your collages!
