Cookbook Club: Japanese Summer + DIY Onigiri

Join us for a delightful evening with the Cookbook Club as we partner with Culturally Curious Club to explore the vibrant food culture of Tokyo! 🌆✨ This event will take you beyond sushi and ramen, diving deep into the fascinating realm of Japanese street food.

What to Expect:

Together, we'll indulge in a potluck meal inspired by Maori Murota's Tokyo Cult Recipes — a perfect blend of culinary memory and cultural exploration. Maori Murota, a Tokyo native chef and educator now residing in Paris, shares her upbringing through food, inviting you to taste the essence of her hometown.

In addition to enjoying dishes from the cookbook, we'll also get hands-on by making Onigiri! 🍙

Bring Your Delicious Contributions:

• A dish to share (feel free to cook or buy!)
• An empty stomach 🤤
• An open heart & mind ❤️

Agenda:

• 5:30 PM: Gather and display your dish. Grab a drink and toast a beautiful summer evening! 🥂
• 6:00 PM: Meet new friends while learning how to make Onigiri. Enjoy the feast of shared dishes! 🥢
• 8:00 PM: Say goodbye! Exchange contact info and take leftovers home in our prepared containers.

How to Prepare:

• Reserve your spot by signing up for the event here.
• Choose a dish to bring and add it to our recipe sign-up sheet with any dietary notes. You’ll find recipes from Tokyo Cult Recipes listed in the second tab.
• Prepare (or pick up) your dish — the standard recipe size is fine. No time to cook? No problem! Bring something that fits the theme, perhaps from Katagiri or Sunrise Mart!

  This is a potluck event, but if you're short on time, feel free to bring store-bought options! 🍽️

  Be mindful with food handling; we provide microwave and refrigerator access for your convenience.
• Ticket refunds?
  Tickets are non-refundable, but you can transfer your ticket to someone else.
• Age restriction?
  This event is 21+, with a selection of non-alcoholic and lightly alcoholic drinks provided.
