Discover the Wandle: Tree Walk & Nature Journaling

Info sull'evento

Overview

Join us for a delightful outdoor adventure where you'll explore the enchanting trees of the River Wandle and create your own personalized zine!

The River Wandle, a treasured chalk stream in South London, is rich in wildlife and history. With support from the National Heritage Lottery Fund, we're excited to connect young people (ages 16-30) and those from minoritized ethnic backgrounds to this vital natural resource.

What You'll Do:

  • Explore the Wandle while learning to interpret the landscape and discover what the trees reveal about the river's ecology.
  • Identify Trees: Understand their key features and learn which parts are edible.
  • Nature Journaling: Slow down and sketch your findings to create your own personal field guide zine. We'll provide templates, and you bring your creativity! ✍️
  • Take home your completed zine—a unique record of your experiences on this special day! No previous art skills or nature knowledge are required—just bring your curiosity! 😊

What to Bring:

  • A filled water bottle 💧
  • Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing ☀️
  • Sturdy shoes and clothes that can get a little dirty
  • A packed lunch (snack bars will be provided) 🍏

Important Information:

  • 📍 Meeting Point: Wandle Park (Baltic Close entrance opposite Colliers Wood train station), SW19 2BL
  • 🎟️ Booking is essential to help us plan the sessions. Please book by 8:00 AM on July 19th.
  • Accessibility: Be aware that we may venture off-path and work on the ground, where conditions may be muddy and uneven. If you have accessibility questions, feel free to reach out before the event.
  • Need Support? If you're nervous about attending alone, drop us an email! We're here to help! 💌
