This affordable and low-tech method is perfect for classrooms or anyone eager to explore drypoint etching without breaking the bank.

Drypoint is an acid-free, non-toxic intaglio technique where an image is incised into a plate using a sharp or hard-tipped tool. The plate is then inked like a traditional etching plate and printed on a press, resulting in stunning images with rich tone and bold lines.

What makes milk carton drypoint special? Unlike metal or plastic, milk cartons can be easily cut into various shapes and sizes, yielding a lush plate tone!

In this course, you'll receive plenty of tips and tricks for creating and printing your etchings, plus the opportunity to experiment and layer images, even incorporating chin collé elements. The plates created can be standalone prints or used alongside other printmaking techniques — an essential addition to your printmaking repertoire. No prior experience required!
